Abandoned in a cave on the popular tourist destination of Tenerife, a group of dogs were rescued by police and civil guard officers in the area. The dogs were found starving and with their ears infested with ticks in a ravine cave near the town of Tabaida. The rescue team took the dogs to the Albergue Comarcal Valle Colino animal shelter, where a spokesperson described their previous living conditions as “hell.”
In the San Cristobel de La Laguna area of Tenerife, police and civil guard officers made a shocking discovery in a ravine cave near Tabaida. Five dogs were found, three of which had microchips, left without food or water in the scorching heat. It was revealed that these dogs were owned by a hunter, and a complaint has been lodged with local authorities by shelter spokespersons. Heart-wrenching pictures showed the poor creatures with ticks weighing down their ears, while another had its ear filled with blood-sucking pests. All the dogs looked emaciated, with their bones and ribs visible. The canines are currently receiving medical attention at the shelter, and it is expected to take around three months for them to regain optimum health before being put up for adoption.
After being rescued, the dogs were brought to the Albergue Comarcal Valle Colino animal shelter. A spokesperson from the shelter described their previous living conditions as a “hellish” experience for the poor creatures.
Out of the pack of five dogs, three had microchips and were stranded in scorching heat, deprived of any sustenance or hydration.
According to reports from local media, the dogs discovered in a horrifying state were allegedly owned by a hunter. The shelter representative confirmed that a complaint has already been lodged with the authorities concerning the matter. It remains unclear whether the hunter has been apprehended for animal abuse. The distressing images of the animals have garnered widespread attention on social media, with many expressing their shock and disgust at the situation. One commenter stated that the hunter deserved to be imprisoned, while another expressed gratitude towards the individuals who helped rescue the five innocent creatures from their miserable existence.
According to a representative from the shelter, they have submitted a complaint to the nearby government officials. The photo displays the dogs inside their designated area.
The shelter is taking good care of the dogs, and veterinarians anticipate that they will make a full recovery within three months. After that, they will be available for adoption.
